Tumbuk Lado Dagger with Ivory Hilt , Batak Karo tribe, 19C , North Sumatra
A very fine tumbuk lado ( literally translate as "pepper crusher" ) dagger in complete condition, decorated with gold dirham coins. This dagger type locally also known as tumbuk lado simalungun.
A very thick and sturdy single sharped edge blade which has single fuller on both side.Wooden scabbard which "wrongko" throat beautifully decorated with dirham gold coin, and covered with silver mounting which has circles and cross ornament , typical karo tribe motifs.
Hilt carved from a chunk of ivory with clear criss cross pattern of "schreger lines" , hilt showing a beautiful patination color.

Sebuah belati tumbuk lado yang sangat halus, dalam kondisi utuh, dihiasi dengan koin dirham emas. Belati type ini juga dikenal sebagai tumbuk lado simalungun.
Bilah yang sangat tebal dan kokoh dengan fuller ( garis darah ) pada kedua sisi bilah.
Sarung kayu dengan bagian wrongkonya dihias koin emas dirham , batang sarung dilapisi perak dengan motif hiasan khas karo.
Gagang diukir dari bongkahan gading solid dengan schreger lines - pola "tikar" gading yang jelas.
